What is a Neuropsychologist?

A Neuropsychologist is a doctor who specializes in brain-behavior relationships. Neuropsychologists are typically called in by neurosurgeons, neurologists, and psychiatrists to assess brain functioning, to help describe how cognitive processes have changed, and to predict how the patients life will now be altered. Neuropsychologists are a required member of a brain rehabilitation team under the standards of the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. A Neuropsychologist provides neuropsychological testing/assessment.
